Arlin Sorensen
Founder & CEO
Arlin Sorensen is the founder and CEO of Oak Road Consulting and specializes in Peer Groups, business leadership, coaching, consulting, strategic and life planning. Arlin has more than 30 years of experience in the business world and is widely recognized for his contribution to others on their entrepreneurial journey. He has worked with groups across North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand helping transform teams to serve clients with the tools and skills enabling them to achieve their goals and build leadership in their organizations.
Arlin is a visionary and entrepreneur at heart, always finding ways to help people succeed in what they want to accomplish both in their businesses and personal lives. His technology career began with the launch of his own managed service provider IT company in 1985. He then founded HTS Ag in 1995 to meet the needs for technology for growers in production agriculture. In 2000, Arlin established the Heartland Tech Groups for IT company business leaders. When that group (now IT Nation Evolve) was acquired in 2018, he joined the ConnectWise team and became VP of Ecosystem Evangelism for them.
When not traveling to speak and consult, Arlin is at home with his wife Nancy. He enjoys photography, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Pete Sorensen
Partner
Pete Sorensen is a founding partner of Oak Road Consulting. He is a recognized leader and “outside of the box” thinker known for team building, operational execution, and leadership development. Pete brings his unique blend of experiences and skills to the clients of Oak Road Consulting by walking with business leaders to help them grow as they achieve their personal and business goals.
Before Oak Road Consulting, Pete served as a managing partner of HTG Peer groups and later joined ConnectWise. Prior to that, he held several leadership positions during his 10 years at DuPont Pioneer.
Pete and his family live on a farm in Iowa that has been in the family for five generations. When not helping on the farm or spending time in his woodworking shop, Pete is involved in his local church and is an active volunteer with several local youth organizations. He is a husband, father of four, and enjoys traveling and exploring the world with his family.
Jim Shelton
Vice President, Strategy
Jim Shelton is the Vice President of Strategy and is responsible for formulating a business and growth strategy for Oak Road Consulting that aligns with the “Go Giver” mindset. Jim has a genuine desire to help others to achieve their goals in order to enrich their lives, businesses, and communities.
Jim joined Oak Road Consulting after returning to his hometown following a successful 32-year career in the Marine Corps. He has led organizations across the Nation and around the World and has served in peacetime and in times of conflict. Having led organizations of 5,000 people and managed budgets of $1.4B, Jim provides a wealth of knowledge related to financial management, training and education, strategic planning, and leadership.
Outside of work Jim enjoys being involved in veterans organizations, mentoring fellow veterans, enabling the success of people he has worked with, and endeavoring to be a good man, husband, father, and grandfather. He is a fan of college sports, the Kansas City Chiefs, and people who quietly go about making the lives of others better.
Peggy Cole
Engagement Manager
Peggy Cole is the Engagement Manager of Oak Road Consulting and handles all the event planning for Peer Groups, Oak Road Consulting, and S2S. In addition, she also serves as office manager and assists the team with scheduling, billing, travel, and ensures that everything runs smoothly.
Peggy loves serving others and helping them succeed. She has previously been a leader in health care management and an executive assistant and project coordinator for HTG and Connectwise. She brings a wealth of event planning and management experience to the team and the Peer Groups.
Peggy is a wife and busy mother of three and enjoys connecting with people, traveling, line dancing, farming with her family, and eating exotic foods and ice cream.
